University invites applications for an assistant professor (koshi) or an
associate professor (jokyoju) beginning April 1, 2006.

Responsibilities include teaching Japanese language to exchange students,
planning and coordinating language curriculum courses in the Center for Japanese
Studies program, and teaching Japanese courses related to Japanese language
pedagogy in Department of Japanese Studies.

Successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Japanese language pedagogy, applied
linguistics, second language acquisition or related fields; native or
near-native fluency in both Japanese and English; and have over 5 years of
experience in teaching at the college level.

To ensure full consideration for the position, application must be
postmarked on or before June 30, 2005. Please send in a statement of your
teaching philosophy (2000 Japanese characters), CV, five sample
publications, and two recommendations to Dean, Faculty of Humanities,
Nanzan University, 18 Yamazato-cho, Showa-ku, Nagoya-shi, Aichi-ken
466-8673 Japan by registered mail with "Instructor Application Enclosed"
written on the outside of the envelope. Finalists will be requested for an
interview and may be asked to submit a video of classroom teaching.
