Postdoctoral position in cognitive neuroscience (language)
The Neuroimaging Center NeuroImage Nord at the University of Hamburg
Medical Center invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral position
(salary level BAT II a) in the area of cognitive language processing
(specifically, semantic processing in German-French bilinguals). The
targeted starting date for the position is July 1, 2005 (pending approval
by the DFG). The initial appointment will be for 1.5 years, with a possible
extension of another 1.5 years.
This position is funded as part of a new grant-funded project, run by Dr.
Annette Baumgaertner and Prof. Christian Büchel at the Institute of Systems
Neuroscience at the University of Hamburg Medical Center, within the
research group on multilingualism at the University of Hamburg
(http://www.rrz.uni-hamburg.de/SFB538/index-en.html). Qualified applicants will
design, prepare, and conduct fMRI experiments, and be responsible for
subsequent data analysis using SPM. The applicant will join an active
multidisciplinary research group with strengths in various cognitive and
clinical domains, with advanced training opportunities in functional imaging.
Applicants should have fluent written and oral communication skills in
German and preferably basic skills in French, and have a degree in
Psychology, Neuropsychology, Neurolinguistics, Medicine, Cognitive Science,
or another related degree. Knowledge of experimental methodology is
required; familiarity with neuroimaging methods (fMRI) would be of
advantage.
