IT Engineer - RTÉNL

RTÉ Transmission Network Limited, responsible for the construction and
operation of transmission network assets in Ireland and a wholly owned
subsidiary of RTÉ, currently has a vacancy for an IT Engineer.

The purpose of the job is to manage the full range of IT systems
within the RTÉ transmission network including the SCADA system which
monitors and controls transmission equipment from RTÉNL sites.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the main responsibilities of the job are:

* to ensure that all existing IT systems, including the SCADA
system, are maintained in a fully operational mode;

* to provide an immediate response to IT related problems at
regional sites;

* project manage any system upgrades or implementation of new systems; and

* to manage IT systems in the transmission network.

The job will also involve managing external companies who provide IT
support to the transmission network.

The ideal candidate will be expected to have significant experience in
working with SCADA systems at both the management and support
level. Good project management skills are desirable. S/he will
preferably be educated to primary degree level in a relevant
discipline.

The successful candidate will be flexible, adaptable and will be
expected to enthusiastically embrace the introduction of all new
systems. S/he will possess excellent communication skills and have the
ability to problem solve. S/he should also have the ability to handle
multiple assignments and work to strict deadlines.

The appointment will be made on a contract basis for a two-year period.
