The Project:
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position on a research
project with commercial potential. The contract is initially for one
year, with a possibility of extension.
The project will involve development and evaluation of algorithms for
one-class classification, which will be based on SVMs, instance-based
learning and/or other methods. Additionally, work will be conducted on
analysing the state of the art, including patents and commercial
products as well as the academic literature.
This work is part of a collaboration between Prof. Pádraig Cunningham
of Trinity College Dublin (http://www.cs.tcd.ie/Padraig.Cunningham/)
and Dr Michael Madden of NUI Galway
(http://www.it.nuigalway.ie/m_madden). The researcher will be based in
NUI Galway.
The Position:
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in the area of Machine Learning
and its application scientific/engineering problems. A thorough
knowledge of state-of-the-art AI and ML techniques is required, along
with experience of high-quality software development. Additionally,
experience of commercialisation aspects would be an advantage.
