Meeting Description:

Applications are invited for admission to the 2nd IGEL (International
Society for the Empirical Study of Literature and Media) Summer
Institute, which will take place at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University
of Munich, from Sunday 30 July 2006 through Friday 4 August. The
Program of the Summer Institute is concerned with the cooperation of
Humanities and Social Science students in order to develop adequate
methods for the empirical investigation of literature and the media
(see the IGEL 2006 Call for Papers at
http://www.arts.ualberta.ca/igel/ for examples of the kind of topics
to be investigated).

There is only a limited number of places available. The successful
candidates will work in small groups supervised by a staff of 6 or 7
experienced researchers in the empirical study of literature and the
media. Emphasis will be on workshop-like activities with a high
relevance for the practice of planning, carrying out, and evaluating
empirical research. Attention will be given both to methods of the
social sciences (such as, for instance, multivariate techniques) and
those of the humanities (such as, for instance, the analysis of point
of view).

The deadline for sending in your applications (only by email!) is 31 March 2006. Please send applications to Willie van Peer at w_vp@yahoo.com.

Society for the Empirical Study of Literature and Media) Summer
Institute, which will take place at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University
of Munich, from Sunday 30 July 2006 through Friday 4 August,
immediately prior to the biannual IGEL conference, which will begin on
Saturday 5 August. The Program of the Summer Institute is concerned
with the cooperation of Humanities and Social Science students in
order to develop adequate methods for the empirical investigation of
literature and the media (see the IGEL 2006 Call for Papers at

reckon with a selection being made. The successful candidates will
work in small groups supervised by a staff of 6 or 7 experienced

The deadline for sending in your applications (only by email!) is 31
March 2006. You will be notified of your acceptance status shortly
