Government of Ireland Postgraduate Research Scholarships 2007/08

The IRCHSS Government of Ireland Postgraduate Research Scholarships
2007/08 in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including Law and
Business Studies, are valued at up to 12,700 per annum. They may be
held in conjunction with other awards, provided that such other awards
do not exceed a total value of 12,700 in any given year during the
period of the Scholarship.

Scholarships will be awarded initially for one year but, subject to
terms and conditions, are renewable for up to two additional
years. Fees will also be covered for the period of the
Scholarship. Applicants must be either citizens of Ireland or citizens
of a Member State of the European Union who have been ordinarily
resident within Ireland for a continuous period of not less than three
years. They should already be, or will be during the academic year
2007/2008, registered in a recognised third-level institution as
full-time post-graduate research students pursuing degrees by major
thesis. Those who are undertaking taught programmes, or degrees where
a thesis is a minor part of the programme, are not eligible.

NB: TCD ENDORSEMENT PROCEDURE

Signatures are required in the following order:

1. The Applicant signs at `Signature of Applicant';
2. The Supervisor signs at `Signature of Research
Director/Supervisor/or his or her authorised nominee';
3. The Head of School signs off on the ethical
implications of the proposal (at #23), and on the
proposal as a whole, in that s/he also signs at
`Signature of Research Director/Supervisor/or his
or her authorised nominee' OR signs a photocopy
of the same page (TCD requirement, not for sponsor); and
4. The Research Office signs / stamps at
`Signature of Vice-President for Research/Dean of
Research/his or her authorised nominee'.

Note: although the IRCHSS asks for the signature of the Head of
Department for section 23 (ethics), all TCD applications must have the
signature of the Head of School (or, in the few remaining cases where
this applies, the Vice Dean).

Please allow at least 48 hours for the Research Office (Room 1.1
Innovation Centre, O’Reilly Institute) to endorse your application,
and please have ALL the other signatures required already in place
before seeking endorsement from the Research Office.
