ChoiceMaker Technologies, a New York City startup, seeks a computational
linguistics graduate student with an appetite for grammar development for a
summer internship to work on a challenging problem involving the parsing of
postal addresses.
The successful candidate will work full-time over the summer of 2006. The work
will primarily involve developing and testing postal address grammars using
ChoiceMaker's proprietary grammar development tool, but may also involve some
work in Java and possibly Prolog. This position will report to ChoiceMaker's
Senior Computer Scientist, who has a Ph.D. in computational linguistics and has
published extensively in the field.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Graduate student in computational linguistics.
- Good understanding of formal language theory
- Enjoy grammar development
- Proficient in Unix or Linux
- Fluent in English
Desirable Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would also display strength in all of the following areas:
- Strong programming skills in Java
- Familiarity with Prolog
- Good writing and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
- Compensation is $800/week
