Time allocation: Full or part-time

Salary: $45,000 to $55,000 FTE per annum, depending upon qualifications

The Center for Applied Linguistics is a leading research and service organization, specializing in language learning, literacy, and a full range of language and culture issues. CAL Services provides assistance to states, school districts, and schools in serving English language and foreign language learners. Services take the form of professional development for teachers, administrators, and teacher trainers; and technical assistance, including program design, curriculum development; standards alignment, and needs assessments and program evaluation.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Developing and carrying out CAL Services projects, including working with clients, developing proposals and contracts, developing and managing project budgets and contracts, and planning and delivering services, as per contract

Working with consultants to ensure that CAL Services is made available to appropriate programs and educators

Working with CAL's outreach staff to provide information to the field about what CAL Services offers.

Writing and editing products that accompany services, including manuals and study guides for teachers and teacher trainers

Monitoring timelines and meeting project deadlines

Assisting in the preparation of reports

Assisting the Manager in the development of sarategic plans for CAL Services.

Assisting with other activities as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: M.A. in ESL with specific focus on K-12 programs, or in a related field with appropriate coursework

Experience: Must have at least 5 years teaching experience with English language learners at the elementary, middle, or high school levels in the United States and some presenting and training experience with this population and setting. Must have excellent oral communication and writing skills, the ability to prioritize work on several projects at the same time, and excellent attention to detail. Must be able to work independently and write well for publication. Experience managing projects and developing and monitoring budgets highly desirable. Some travel for service delivery expected for full-time position
