A position for a PostDoc (salary equivalent BAT IIa) is available in
the NLP group at EML Research starting as soon as possible.
Applications from highly motivated PhD students (salary equivalent BAT
IIa/2) are also welcomed.
The successful candidate will be working in a project dealing with
mining and creating lexical semantic resources for NLP applications.
The goal of the project is to turn Wikipedia into a resource which can
be effectively embedded into existing NLP applications.
Candidates should have a strong background in computational
linguistics and possess a PhD, a Masters or a Diploma degree in either
computational linguistics, computer science or linguistics. Knowledge
about ontologies, including their formal properties and their use in
NLP applications such as question answering, text summarization,
information extraction or information retrieval is a plus. Strong
programming skills (mainly in Java and Perl) are also required. The
appointment will be initially for two years. An extension for another
two years is possible subject to further funding.
EML Research gGmbH is a private non-profit research laboratory
dedicated to basic and applied research in IT with a focus on
bioinformatics and natural language processing. The NLP group is an
interdisciplinary research group that works on applications in the
area of discourse and dialogue. Our research interests include
anaphora resolution, lexical semantics, text generation and automatic
