Telecooperation invites applications of researchers (at the doctoral
or post-doc level) in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP)
applied to eLearning. The positions are offered within the Research
Training Program "Quality in eLearning through Regenerative Processes"
funded by the German Research Council (DFG) and the Federal State of
Hesse. Doctoral and post-doctoral positions have the duration of two
and one years respectively, with the possibility to extend for one
additional year.

The interdisciplinary Research Training Program is focused on
improving eLearning through the introduction of regenerative
processes. In particular, best practice experiences should be
integrated in computational models and the software engineering
lifecycle. On the other hand, advanced natural language processing
technologies should be employed to enhance eLearning experiences. This
can be tackled by:

i. empirically analysing corpora of eLearning content, e.g. scientific
presentations, emails, wikis;

ii. employing methods of computational linguistics to build semantic
and pragmatic models of eLearning discourses;

iii. applying natural language processing technologies, e.g. automatic
summarization, information extraction & retrieval, and conversational
dialogue interfaces to build advanced eLearning applications.

Ideal candidates should possess a degree either in computational
linguistics or computer science. We assume strong interest in NLP and
eLearning as a target domain and willingness to work in a strongly
interdisciplinary environment. The Telecooperation Department offers
both a stimulating working atmosphere and up-to-date computer hardware
facilities. The department participates in multiple cutting-edge
computer science projects and partnerships. Doctoral researchers
should aim to gain a Ph.D. in computer science. Strong programming
skills are required. Relevant research experience and publications in
NLP and/or eLearning will be a definite asset. International
candidates are expected to improve their command of German, if offered
a position.
