PhD in Linguistics, French, or SLA; native or near-native fluency in
French; strong research record in SLA. The successful candidate will
contribute to the French program and the growing Linguistics program.
Teaching responsibilities may include courses in General Linguistics, SLA,
CALL, ESL, teaching practicum for new graduate TAs, as well as French
language, linguistics and culture courses taught in lingua.

Teaching load: 3/3. The position includes managing the Foreign Language
Media Center (FLMC) and coordinating with lower-division language program
directors and the College Computer Applications specialist. The candidate
will assist with orientations, TA training and supervision of TAs in French
and ESL. Faculty in the Department of Languages, Linguistics, and Comparative
Literature also contribute to the PhD program in Comparative Studies.

This is a one-year visiting assistant professorship starting August 14,
2006 and ending May 11, 2007.
Salary: $ 45,000
