The Translation Studies Department at the United Arab Emirates University
in Al Ain (UAE) invites applications for a position in Linguistics &
Translation at the level of Assistant Professor for Fall 2006/2007.

Successful candidates are expected to teach all levels of linguistics and
translation; they are also expected to teach theory of translation,
semantics, pragmatics and information theory. Preference will be given to
candidates who are able to integrate new technologies into the teaching of
translation.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics & Translation from an
accredited university. They must demonstrate excellence as a teacher and
researcher, and commitment to community service. They must be able to
integrate information technology into instruction and have experience in
teaching Arabic/English translation. Native or near native fluency in
English and Arabic is required.

Interested applicants should send a letter of application, a detailed
resume, a brief description of current and future research activities, a
statement of teaching philosophy, and a list of courses taught.
