The School of Computer Science and Informatics, UCD Dublin, Ireland, is
seeking to recruit two students to undertake exciting PhD research projects
as part of an EU-wide research consortium investigating "What It Means To
Be Human".

Members of this consortium in different EU universities will be
examining how people (and animals such as chimpanzees) solve
problems by identifying analogies between one problem situation
and another.

The PhD research projects undertaken in UCD will involve experimental
studies and computational simulations of the development and evolution
of peoples' (and animals') use of analogy in problem-solving.

Suitable candidates will have a good honours degree in either psychology
or computer science (or a masters qualification in a related dicipline)
and will be interested in contributing to our understanding of how the mind
works, how human thinking could have evolved, and what it means to be human.

Both of these PhD research posts are fully funded.
