The Rockridge Institute (www.rockridgeinstitute.org) announces job
openings for up to three scholars.

The Rockridge Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit, research and
educational institution. The Institute's mission is to study
progressive ideas and to move public debate in a progressive
direction. The intellectual work of the Institute is lead by its
Founder and Senior Fellow, University of California, Berkeley
Professor George Lakoff. Professor Lakoff is the author of numerous
books including Moral Politics, Don't Think of an Elephant! and Whose
Freedom? Using the teachings of cognitive science and linguistics,
Rockridge explores political ideas and the language used to express
them.

Rockridge has recently completed a book entitled Thinking Points:
Communicating Our American Values and Vision, A Progressive's
Handbook. The book offers a full and systematic account of framing in
a political context, especially the values and principles that
underlie progressivism. It also offers a new account of the political
"center", and provides extensive analysis of political argument forms.

Rockridge intends to extend its work in these areas, studying the full
range of political issues and how they relate to one another; writing
about issues as they arise; setting up a national grassroots community
of groups and individuals who want to speak out; and working with
members of that community to help them be more effective.

Job responsibilities include research, analysis, writing, and
potentially, public speaking. Work takes place in a collaborative,
team-oriented environment in attractive offices in downtown Berkeley.
