Applications are invited for a Research Associate in Text Mining at the
National Centre for Text Mining (www.nactem.ac.uk
) in the University of Manchester, School of
Computer Science. The post is full time and available from 1st February
2008 for a period of 18 months and funded by the JISC. The successful
candidate will work for a project aiming to adapt and develop NaCTeM
text mining technology to social science applications.


Essential Skills: A PhD (submitted or obtained) in a relevant area, or
research experience at an equivalent level and an MSc in Computer
Science. Excellent software engineering skills and the ability to
develop algorithms and software for NLP/TM systems, excellent knowledge
of C, C++, Java, XML, Windows, Linux and Web services.

Desirable skills: document clustering and classification, text mining,
