Salary: $42,000 to $62,000 FTE per annum, depending upon qualifications

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Work as part of a team on research, curriculum development, and professional development projects in the areas of ESL/bilingual education.
Primary Responsibilities
*Participate in developing literacy curriculum for first through eighth grade language minority students
*Participate in planning, coordination, and conducting professional development workshops for teachers related to the development of literacy and content area knowledge in language minority children and youth.
*Participate in developing, administering and scoring assessments of students’ language and literacy development
*Participate in coordinating data collection efforts
*Participate in setting up a database and entering assessment and implementation data
*Participate in developing a measure of comprehension that would include helping to organize large-scale data collections efforts off site and assisting in off-site data collection
*Maintain project files
*Correspond with co-researchers, other colleagues, project teachers, and others as needed
*Assist in proposal development
*Respond to inquiries about projects
*Other tasks as assigned.
NOTE: Some travel will be required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Must have at least an M.A. in ESL or related discipline.
Experience: Must be knowledgeable about the development of language and literacy in second-language learners in K-8 classrooms in the U.S.; preference given to candidates who have classroom teaching experience in the U.S.; preference given to candidates who have experience working with databases; must have good writing skills (in English), organizational, and computer skills; and must be able to work both independently and with colleagues.
