Informatics in UCD for a 1 year postdoc on the analysis of matrix
decomposition techniques in Social Network Analysis. The objective of
this work will be to examine whether matrix decomposition techniques
are effective for discovering structure in Social Network Analysis
(SNA) when the networks are very large (>100,000 nodes).

SNA has considerable commercial importance in areas such as mobile
communications and electronic commerce where the analysis of link
structures and the identification of cliques in customer data are of
commercial interest. For example mobile network operators concerned
with addressing ?churn? in their customer base are interested in
discovering cliques from customer call data as there is a tendency
for customers to move operators in groups.
