The Pattern Recognition and Human Language Technology (PRHLT) group of
the "Instituto Tecnologico de Informatica" ("Universidad Politecnica
de Valencia", Spain) invites applications for several pre- and
post-doctoral positions in the fields of Multimodal Interaction,
Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision and Human Language Technology.
The positions, necessarily based in Spain, will range from 2 to 5
years, yearly renewable, depending on the subjects chosen and the CV
of the applicants. The gross annual salary will be around 26,000
Euros for post-doc positions and around 16,000 Euros of junior

and experience of the applicants. In addition, generous allowances
are available to support presentation of work at international
conferences and to attend seminars and tutorials.
This is a pre-announcement to select candidates for a several of job
positions in the framework of the MIPRCV programme.
SUMMARY OF THE PROJECT
PRHLT is one of the seven research groups participating in the
CONSOLIDER-INGENIO 2010 programme: "Multimodal Interaction in Pattern
Recognition and Computer Vision" (MIPRCV - http://miprcv.iti.es).
MIPRCV establishes a five-years research programme to develop Pattern
Recognition and Computer Vision approaches that explicitly deal with
the challenges and opportunities entailed by the human-interaction
paradigm. Based on these approaches, it also aims at implementing
actual systems and prototypes for a number of important
applications. The ultimate goal is to show how existing PR and CV
technologies can naturally evolve to help the development of advanced
multi-modal interactive systems that will realize the long standing
promises of a seamless synergy between persons and machines.

Candidates to the various positions offered must be EU nationals or
have residence and/or working permit in Spain. In addition they
should have:
- a high-quality degree in Computer Science, Telecom or Electrical
Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics,
- strong motivation to conduct research,
- experience in at least one of the following research areas:
Multimodal Interaction, Pattern Recognition, Computer Vision, Human
Language Technology,
- good communication skills in English.
In addition, for the post-doc positions,
- experience as a leader of research activities
Candidates with their own initiatives and/or research lines will be
highly considered.
The successful pre-doctoral applicants will have opportunities to
