Graphic Design Coordinator

Position Available: Immediately

Division/Program: Language Testing Division (LTD)

Classification: Research/Program Assistant II

Status: Exempt

Hours per week: Full time (35)

Salary: $36,029 - $50,958 per annum FTE, depending upon qualifications

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

The person in this position will be a member of the production team for a major, national, graphics-heavy test of English language proficiency for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Duties will include the timely development of all text and graphics and the delivery of camera-ready test materials. In addition, this person will also coordinate the development and design of web-based training. This person should also demonstrate a willingness to learn about the design and upkeep of a test item database. The work will require substantial interaction with the other production team member and coordination with the program managers and with contracted artists.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Coordinate with Test Development Manager and staff regarding different production needs;
* Train staff as needed on the use of Photoshop and other design software;
* Oversee the development of illustrations and graphics from externally contracted artists and track their deliverables;
* Create some illustrations and make needed revisions to existing illustrations using different design software;
* Develop page layouts, templates, style sheets, and production style guides; and
* Update web-based training and professional development materials for online delivery

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
BA Degree, preferably in Graphic Design, or Liberal Arts, Masters a plus. A particular focus on production of educational materials also a plus.

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years experience in graphic design and development of print and Web-based materials, preferably in the field of education. Familiarity with creating Web-based learning environments a plus. Strong graphics and layout skills and experience using InDesign and other desktop publishing software a must. Experience using photo editing software such as Photoshop and being able to train other staff as needed in using that software is a must. Must have excellent English speaking and writing skills. Facility in communicating in a language other than English is a plus.

Personal Skills:
Must be flexible, organized, attentive to detail, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to plan and negotiate multiple tasks running simultaneously.
