Research Assistant
Division/Program: Language Testing Division
Hours per week: Full time (35)
Position Available: August 1, 2008
Salary: $30,000-$36,000, depending on experience
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Will be responsible for coordination and research support to a variety of projects on language assessment and teacher professional development on language assessment. The projects involve entering data into databases, transcribing speech samples, coordinating meetings, administering oral proficiency tests, conducting research on technology and other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Entering data
Transcribing responses to tests
Administering oral proficiency tests
Conducting research on technology relevant to projects
Maintaining physical and electronic files
Coding and analyzing data
Initiating and maintaining contact with partners
Assisting in development of training materials
Creating and maintaining databases
Assisting in correspondence and coordination of meetings with the Project Managers, Research Assistants, advisers and other persons involved in the projects
Assisting in writing and editing research reports, articles, proposals, conference presentations and other project-related products
Preparing information binders for meetings or trainings
Conducting library, Internet searches and other research activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
B.A. Degree in Education, Psychology, Spanish, Linguistics or related field.
Experience:
Proficient with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint. Must be flexible, organized, attentive to detail, and be able to prioritize tasks from several projects. Must work well both independently and collaboratively with a team. Preference for a candidate with fluency in Spanish.
Must be available for occasional travel to meetings or conferences.
