An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the data development team at Chambers Harrap Publishers Ltd, one of the world’s leading reference publishers.

Based in central Edinburgh, and reporting to the Electronic Publishing Manager, you will employ your technical skills to enhance the richness of our XML and related database resources to meet today’s e-publishing requirements and for licensing opportunities. You will be closely involved in developing and enhancing Chambers' cutting-edge language corpora, editorial and research tools, and in new strands of online publishing. You will provide key computational support for in-house and external editorial and production teams in the publication of print and electronic reference works including dictionaries, phrasebooks and language-learning titles.

You will be educated to degree level in a technical discipline such as computational linguistics, have an interest in language and dictionaries, and possess excellent knowledge of XML, XSLT and Perl; familiarity with HTML and CSS is highly desirable. A knowledge of or willingness to learn either C# or Java would be expected.

You should be able to demonstrate a high degree of organization and self-motivation and a keen attention to detail.
