The "Spoken Language Processing" team at LIMSI-CNRS (30 km south of Paris) seeks
immediately one qualified postdoctoral researcher in the field of Statistical
Machine Translation.

Description:

Announcing opening in the area of Data-Driven Machine Translation at the
LIMSI/CNRS in Spoken Language Processing Group in Orsay, France.

The task of the post-doc candidate will be to devise, implement and evaluate
discriminative learning models for sub-components of statistical machine
translation systems. We are primarily interested with discriminative learning
models for word alignement and for word reordering. These models will be used to
improve LIMSI's Machine Translation tools.

The candidates are expected to have an Engineering BSc/Msc degree and a PhD in
Computer Science. Excellent knowledge of Example-Based or Statistical approaches
to Speech or Natural Language Processing. The successful candidate will be a
strong programmer, have a track record in machine learning, and have a good
publication record in this field. Experience with statistical machine
translation systems and/or participation in large-scale open evaluations (NIST,
IWSLT etc.) would be a distinct advantage.

The minimum remuneration will be EUR 1900 (net income) per month. The position
are open from 15th Jan 2009. A contract of one year will be awarded.
