Research Assistant

Division/Program: Language Education and Academic Development Division (LEAD)

Staff Classification: Research/Program Assistant I

Hours per week: Full time (35) (negotiable)

Salary: $32,550 - $46,519 FTE per annum, depending upon qualifications

Position Available: Immediately

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Provide coordination and research support for several projects concerning teacher professional development, and language and literacy learning in schools.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

*Conduct background research on topics in language education using Web-based and print materials
*Manage physical and electronic data files
*Code and participate in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data
*Manage document design for reports, training materials, and proposals
*Communicate with project partners, schools, and teachers
*Assist in development and distribution of materials for training teachers and testing students
*Other tasks as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: B.A. in linguistics, education, psychology or related field preferred

Experience: At least three years of research and/or teaching experience in a related field

Skills:

*Highly skilled in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (knowledge of MS Access and Dreamweaver a plus)
*Familiar with process for conducting a literature search
*Excellent writing and oral communication skills
*Flexible and well organized
*Able to prioritize tasks
*Able to work independently and with colleagues
