Test Development Specialist

Division/Program: Language Testing Division

Staff Classification: Research/Program Assistant II

Hours per week: Full time (35)

Salary: $38,219 to $48,000 depending upon qualifications

Position Available: Immediately

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Assist with research and test development for WIDA® MODEL™, a
large-scale English language proficiency assessment for grades 6-12
English language learners.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review grades 6-12 text and graphics for content accuracy and
grade-level appropriateness according to test specifications:

Revise test items according to feedback from others
*

Prepare and maintain a variety of files and records (research summary reports, bibliographies, etc.) in support of research efforts
*

Assist in the coordination of cognitive labs and the logistics of a large scale field test
*

Conduct cognitive labs and pilot testing of the assessment
*

Write graphics descriptions, request graphics, request graphics revisions
*

Review, edit, proof, and prepare test forms and ancillary materials
*

Perform key checks
*

Recruit participants for various meetings as well as for field testing
* Other tasks as assigned

NOTE: Limited travel is required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Minimum B. A./B. S. degree in Linguistics, Education, or related
discipline. Master's (in ESOL, Teaching or Reading) preferred.

Experience:

Successful candidate will have 3 or more years of experience working
with English language learners (ELLs) in grades 6-12. Teaching
experience in the areas of reading, assessment, literacy and/or
content area instruction is desirable. A commitment to improving
education, particularly for ELLs, is essential. Ability to prioritize
work, give attention to detail while meeting deadlines, and strong
written and oral communication skills are essential.
