Dear all - At Aberdeen and Dundee universities, we have been working
on a project to help children who cannot speak tell stories (eg, to
their parents) about their day at school. Basically we monitor their
activities with sensors, suggest possible content, let the children
edit and annotate content at a visual level, and then generate a
simple story.

We have done a one-year feasibility study, and I've just been informally
told that we have gotten funding for 18 months to do more work on this.
I can't formally advertise this position until I get official
notification, but as we'd like to start ASAP I thought I'd informally
announce this. If anyone is interested, please do contact me.
I think this position would be especially well suited to someone
who was interested in HCI and/or assistive technology, as well as NLG;
it will require spending considerable amounts of time working with
the children as well as developing the software.
