Online Publishing Projects Manager

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER PARTNERSHIPS (KTP) ASSOCIATE
Salary: £25,000 - £27,000pa dependant on skills and experience
Term: 2-year fixed contract, KTP appointment plus sponsored Masters

Earthscan is the largest independent publishing company specialising
in environmental, sustainability and development issues. The firm has
an established reputation for publishing in such areas as climate
change, architecture, energy and natural resources management. The
company currently sells in over 100 countries, and its aim is to be
the leading information provider for the communities of interest in
these fields, worldwide. Earthscan is a full-service publisher of
books, journals and reference works for trade, academic, teaching and
professional markets.
Earthscan are developing a state-of-the-art online publishing platform
to broaden its customer base and to establish a cross-disciplinary
online community, and are looking for a suitably qualified candidate
to manage this via a KTP funded project.
A graduate (BSc Hons 2.1 minimum), you should have a qualification in
Business/ Computing/Information Systems, or other relevant subject.
You will have a strong interest in publishing/media and experience of
specifying and managing web-based systems development projects, using
state-of-the-art web technologies. Preferably with experience of the
latest (opensource) technical and accessibility standards, and the
potential to utilize the rich functionality of the web (Web 2.0)
including support for full-text and metadata searching, browsing,
personalization and support for multiple business models.
With strong project- and time-management skills you will have the
ability to think creatively and solve problems; you should be
self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as part of a
team. Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to work both with
company staff and clients, and excellent communication and
presentation skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
This is a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) appointment in which
the candidate will work full-time at the company, but will be employed
by London South Bank University.
