Well-established language school in Washington DC with 43 years of
experience in providing training in ESL and foreign languages seeks
qualified individuals to apply for a position in a highly competitive,
fast-paced environment as the Director of its English Language Division.
The Director is responsible for recruiting, training, developing and
supervising teachers who deliver proficiency-based language training to
adult learners in the Intensive English Program, Work Place, Business
English and TOEFL programs, as well as in private tutorials.
The Director manages all aspects of running ESL language programs,
including business development activities and agent relations. Candidates
must possess professional language training skills in order to direct
language training programs and materials development which bring students
to high levels of language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and
writing. Candidates must be current in the application of technology to the
language learning process and current best practices in the areas of
distance learning, classroom and computer-assisted instruction. The
Director oversees assessment, curriculum development and/or extensive
revisions to existing training courses, as well as monitors and evaluates
students' progress in order to ensure that students are meeting their
language goals. The Director keeps in close contact with clients and
acquires new clients through the active promotion of ESL programs.
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic individuals with the
following requirements:
- Masters Degree in Teaching, TESOL, Linguistics, Education or related field
- Native fluency in American English
- Knowledge and skills in curriculum design, teacher training and classroom
pedagogy, and student counseling
- At least two years supervisory and/or management experience in a
post-secondary ESL environment
- Sales and marketing experience, preferably in an independent language school
- Experience in developing pricing proposals for clients
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English and in a
foreign language
- Knowledge of educational and training technologies and instructional
methodologies
- Experience in teaching adult learners in an ESL classroom setting
- Knowledge of proficiency-based language training and testing formats
- Ability to work in a multicultural setting
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership qualities
