"Intelligent Information Management in Corporate Wikis"

The Ubiquitous Knowledge Processing (UKP) Lab
(http://www.ukp.tu-darmstadt.de) has an opening in the area "Intelligent
Information Management in Corporate Wikis". This is a Post-Doc position;
however, outstanding PhD-Level candidates are encouraged to apply, too,
based on their excellent qualifications.

The candidate will work on the cutting-edge NLP technologies, e.g.
automatic tagging, link detection, and information structuring within
corporate wiki environments. This entails a combination of fundamental
NLP research and intelligent user interfaces applied to the novel
information medium Wiki. The technologies will be utilized in corporate
wikis of well-known industrial companies, who agreed to serve as
application partners in the project.

The successful applicant will join the UKP Lab situated in the Department
of Computer Science, Technische Universit?t Darmstadt, Germany. The Lab
participates in a set of prestigious fundamental research projects funded
by the German Science Foundation (DFG), the Volkswagen Foundation, the
German Ministry of Economy (BMWI) and industrial companies. The research
profile of the UKP Lab is applying NLP to Web 2.0 content, mining
Wiki-based resources, and using collaboratively constructed semantic
resources in information management systems. The group features a highly
dynamic work environment, a strongly motivated and integrated research
team, an industrial cooperation network, and was distinguished by several
research awards in 2007 and 2008.

REQUIREMENTS:

* A strong background in NLP and/or Computer Science
* Strong programming and software engineering skills (preferably Java)
* knowledge of UIMA is a plus
* Soft skills, such as team-based work and student supervision
* The ability to conduct original research, analytical skills and a keen
research interest
* proven publication record is a definite plus

Duration of the position: two years with an option for extension.
The payment is according to the German BAT scale depending on the
qualifications and previous experience.
