The Institute of Applied Linguistics, Translation and Interpreting at
Universität des Saarlandes (Saarbrücken, Germany) offers a half-time
researcher position in the DFG-funded project `Registers in Contact
The development of specialized scientific discourses'

The institute is part of the Faculty of Linguistics, Literary and
Cultural Studies (Philosophische Fakultät II) and maintains close
collaborative links with computational linguistics, psycholinguistics,
phonetics and the philologies. The group in which the position is
placed is a young and expanding team that has a focus in corpus
linguistics with topic areas ranging from (contrastive) register
analysis over discourse linguistics to translatology. The head of the

The position is open for a Postdoc or PhD student. Prerequisites are a
masters/ diploma degree or a PhD in linguistics or computational
linguistics. A strong background in corpus-based methods is required;
experience in natural language processing methods, including
statistical methods, is desirable. A good command of English is
mandatory.
The salary is according to the German TV-L system (level 13). The
position is for three years, the starting date is January 1,
2011. Note that for a Postdoc, there may be an opportunity to make the
position a full one (100%) based on other third-party funding
available at the institute.
