The Department of Humanities at Northumbria University

invites applications for a four-year fully funded PhD studentship
supported jointly by the University and Mouton de Gruyter, the
publisher of the journal Cognitive Linguistics. We are seeking an
exceptional post-graduate scholar who will be able to combine original
doctoral level research and work placement on the journal. The
successful candidate will receive a full fee waiver (home and EU
students only) and an annual stipend of ?15,047. He/She will also have
the opportunity to participate in the Department's teaching
preparation programme and obtain teaching experience.



The PhD project will involve an empirical investigation of some aspect
of speakers' lexical or grammatical knowledge from a cognitive
perspective using either corpus or experimental methods, or a
combination of both. The specific topic will be negotiated with the
