Role



Nuance is seeking a Development/Speech integration Engineer who possesses a
solid background in application programming and embedded systems.

Candidates should enjoy working in a fast-paced, collaborative atmosphere
that applies speech science in a commercial, result driven and customer
oriented setting.



In this role, you will be responsible for porting Nuance state-of-the-art
speech recognition and text to speech products to different embedded
platforms typically found in the automotive or mobile market. As
development engineer in the Professional Services team, you will be in
close contact with the research lab developing the technologies, and will
be contributing to speech enabling, automotive hands-free car-kits,
automotive and mobile navigation systems, or similar kind of devices where
speech is bringing clear added value. You will be working together with our
customers' integration teams to help them including our technologies into
successful products in an efficient way. While most of the job will take
place in our offices in Merelbeke, a few short trips per year inside or
outside Europe might be possible.



Qualifications required

Responsibilities



As part of the worldwide Embedded R&D organization, you will be
contributing to the development of embedded and distributed speech
recognition technology for the Mobile and Automotive markets.



Representative tasks will include:

?? Training of acoustic models or statistical language models for
various languages.

?? Localizing speech recognition systems toward specific
markets/languages.

?? Contributing to the improvement, design, implementation,
evaluation, optimization and testing of new algorithms, tools and
processes.

Qualifications required
