Tasks / Responsibilities:
We are seeking a PhD student to work on a project that focuses on
embedded large vocabulary speech dictation. The goal of this research
is to develop algorithms that increase the accuracy of speech
recognition on limited hardware in spite of background noise and
speaker variation. The improvements will enable novel applications of
speech user interfaces on mobile phones and navigation devices, like
speech-to-speech translation or dictation of short text messages and
emails.
Qualifications and Experience: Relevant university degree (e.g. a
Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering). C/C++
programming (Linux/Windows), scripting languages. Previous experience
in algorithms and methods of speech recognition, like Hidden Markov
Models, statistical language models and decoding algorithms, would be
beneficial. Interest in application-oriented research topics.
Personal Requirements: English in both writing and speaking. Hands-on,
team player and self-starter. Strong interpersonal skills.
Start date, conditions of work and location: This position is to be
filled as soon as possible. The initial contract will be for a
duration of three years with possible extension. The position is
located at SVOX Deutschland GmbH in Munich, Germany.
