The Risk Collaboratory team of the IBM Dublin Research Laboratory, Ireland is
accepting applications for software engineering positions to support IBM’s
research agenda in the area of risk analytics. The Risk Collaboratory is a
research initiative involving IBM Research and Irish universities focused on
making rigorous decision making under uncertainty scalable within a business
environment.
We are more specifically looking for the ability to leverage natural language
processing methods for risk modelling.
The ideal candidate will have an MS or PhD degree in Computer Science,
Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or
another relevant major, and will have strong Java, J2EE, or C++ programming
skills.
Experiences and skills in several of the following are desired:
- Keen interest in research and software development within an agile research
environment
- Relevant experience in natural language processing methods
- Extensive relevant experience in system architecture and software
development
- Extensive developing experience in Java J2EE, or C++
- Extensive experience in developing user interfaces
- Data Analyst and DBA skills
- Relevant experience in developing algorithms
Employees in this role use a variety of formal and informal requirement/design
artifacts to architect, design, prototype and implement software components
and systems to meet the indicated requirements. They can flexibly adapt to
rapidly changing client or project requirements inherent in a research
project, but are also able to integrate as necessary into formal products and
services. They also ensure that the implemented components are tested and
ready to be integrated into the project systems and proofs of concept.
Software Engineering Researchers are expected to be agile in their
development methodology, while also able to solve difficult problems, explore
new domains, and work well across world-wide teams.
