Applications are now being invited for the University of Canterbury Doctoral
Scholarships, which are tenable in the University of Canterbury linguistics
program in Christchurch, New Zealand.
UC Scholarships provide NZ$20,000/year for three years, and cover the university
fees. There are no restrictions on regional origin of the applicants. The application
deadline is October 15, and information about the Scholarships is available here:

The linguistics program at the University of Canterbury houses several large
corpora, including the ONZE corpus (Origins of New Zealand English). The
program is part of the New Zealand Institute of Language, Brain and behaviour,
and as such, presents substantial opportunities for multi-disciplinary research
(http://www.nzilbb.canterbury.ac.nz).
The PhD at the University of Canterbury is by thesis only, and potential
candidates should, in the first instance, make contact with a potential supervisor.
From January 2012, the available supervisors in the linguistics program will be
Lynn Clark, Jen Hay, Beth Hume, Heidi Quinn and Kevin Watson.
