To develop, lead and teach on modules on the BA (Hons) programmes in
English and English Language; English Language and Linguistics; and on the
MA in Intercultural Communication. To play a role in ongoing curriculum
development. To contribute to the research activities of the field.
Key Selection Criteria:
Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in English Language and Linguistics (full-time
permanent, based at the main Frenchay campus)
The Department of Arts is offering a full-time permanent post in English
Language and Linguistics. Based within the Faculty of Arts, Creative
Industries and Education, this represents an opportunity to join a diverse
and vibrant team with a strong research profile and a commitment to
innovative curriculum design and the highest standards of teaching.
Applications are invited from candidates with broad background knowledge of
the field as well as a specialism in any area of English Language and
Linguistics, able to contribute in the first instance to the development
and teaching of undergraduate modules in the history of English, its
current international statuses and its future prospects; forensic language
analysis using corpus linguistics; and the history of linguistic thought.
There will also be opportunities for further curriculum development and
teaching over the longer term in line with the candidate's own research
interests.
We are looking for applicants with a strong research profile or the
demonstrated potential to develop one, evidence of an ability to contribute
to teaching on our undergraduate programmes and MA in Intercultural
Communication, and a good knowledge of quantitative and qualitative
methodologies. A strong teaching background is essential as is a commitment
to further research.
Salary Band:
£30,122 - £45,486
