Senior Researcher position in Spoken Language Technologies

The Idiap Research Institute is currently seeking candidates for one
Senior Researcher position in the area of Language Technologies,
covering speech processing, speech recognition and synthesis, dialog
modelling, and related research areas. Idiap’s activities in speech
processing currently cover all aspects of speaker adaptive,
multilingual, large vocabulary, continuous speech recognition systems,
including development/maintenance of large HMM and HMM/ANN-based
speech recognition systems, speech enhancement and source localization
(microphone arrays), speaker adaptation, segmentation and clustering,
robust acoustic features, spoken term detection (keyword spotting),
and multilingual speech recognition and synthesis.

With a world-leading research profile and demonstrable strong track
record and commitment to excellence in research and teaching, you will
lead research, innovation and impact at national and international
levels. Besides recognized excellence in Language Technology research,
successful candidates are expected to have several years experience in
project management and supervision of researchers, including PhD
students. Specific/minimum knowledge/skills of the successful
candidate include: PhD in electrical engineering, computer science,
signal processing, mathematics, statistics, or relevant discipline.
Besides recognized expertise in language technologies, a strong
background in statistics or applied mathematics, optimization, linear
algebra, signal processing, and machine learning is necessary.
Significant experience in software development, including C/C++ and
related programming languages (e.g., Perl, Java) Experience with large
real world audio data sets is desirable. Good organizational and
communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to interact well
with international, multi-disciplinary, R&D teams.

Given the links between Idiap and EPFL, academic careers can also be
considered for exceptional candidates.
