A call for MA or PhD Special Case Linguistics applications with Graduate
Teaching Scholarship
Interdisciplinary Linguistics Program, University of Saskatchewan,
Saskatoon, Canada, is currently looking for applications to MA or PhD
Special Case Linguistics programs that can be awarded a Graduate
Teaching Assistant Scholarship (GTA) of 16,500 Canadian dollars. In
addition to the GTA, candidates are also eligible to apply for the University
of Saskatchewan Graduate Scholarship ($16,000 Canadian dollars). The
ideal candidate will be expected to start working on an MA or PhD in the
area of Russian linguistics (preferably Canadian Doukhobor Russian -- in
one of the following areas: phonetics, phonology, syntax, lexicology,
dialectology or sociolinguistics), and perform up to 16 hours of work per
week including the teaching of one or two undergraduate courses in
introductory linguistics, conducting tutorials, grading, and performing
research tasks within the Canadian Doukhobor Russian Project. The
applicant is required to have a native command of Russian and native or
near-native command of English. MA(PhD)/GTA applications should
consists of a CV with contact details, a copy of an undergraduate (and
graduate if available) transcript, and a research proposal (the latter should
not exceed 10 single-spaced pages). Applications as well as inquiries

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the International Phonetic Alphabet and experience with
transcription;
- native speaker of Russian,
- native or near-native speaker of English,
- at least one of the following: linguistics, applied linguistics, computational
linguistics or speech processing background at undergraduate or graduate
levels,
- experience with speech analysis
