3 year PhD Grants
The laboratoire de lingusitique formelle supports applications for a 3
year PhD Grant, starting september 2015.
Candidates based in France are invited to contact an adviser before
April 1st.
International candidates, with no previous study in France or maximum
1 year, should contact a potential adviser before January 5th,

II- Mobility grants for Phd Students
The aim of the Laboratoire d’excellence “Empirical Foundations of
Linguistics: data, methods, models” (Labex EFL) is to promote
innovative and interdisciplinary research within Linguistics and
related fields. Specific interest is given to empirical foundations
(corpus analysis and experimental methods) of linguistic research. For
the 2nd time, the Labex EFL offers mobility grants for a period of 3
months each (one university semester, Spring or Fall semester) to PhD
students in linguistics and related fields.
The Labex EFL is a nine year project, funded by the French
Government (ANR-10-LABX-0083). It gathers 12 research teams (Alpage,
CRLAO, HTL, Lacito, Lattice, LIPN, Llacan, LLF, LPP-P3, LPP-P5, MII,
Sedyl) from 5 members of Sorbonne Paris Cité University (Université
Sorbonne Nouvelle, Université Paris Diderot, Université Paris
Descartes, Université Paris 13 et Institut National des Langues et
Civilisations Orientales), in a partnership with the French National
Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the French Institute for
Research in Computer Science and Automation (INRIA) and the French
Research and Development Institute (IRD).
Up to 5 applicants will be provided a mobility grant for the
academic year 2015-2016. Candidates must be PhD students from a
University outside of France, working in different fields of
linguistics, including but not limited to empirical and experimental
linguistics, typology, field linguistics, computational linguistics,
psycholinguistics. The selected candidates will receive a stipend of
4000 Euros. During their fellowship they will be hosted by one of the
research units of the Labex EFL
(http://www.labex-efl.org/?q=en/about/partners) and will attend
research seminars at one of the partner universities. A certificate of
attendance and validation of these seminars will be provided at the
end of the semester.

Cover letter
CV
An official document certifying their enrollment in a PhD program
A statement (4-5 pages) explaining their PhD project and its relevance
to the research topics of the Labex EFL
A letter of recommendation from their PhD supervisor
A letter of invitation from a local EFL project advisor cosigned by
the director of the inviting laboratory
Deadline for applications: January 15, 2015.

The applications will be examined by the Labex EFL board of directors
and the head of the training programme. Final decisions will be made
by the restricted scientific council by the end of January 2015.
