As part of a team of linguists based in Mountain View, you will provide high-quality annotations on natural language text, in support of a growing Natural Language Understanding research project.
Tasks may include:
- Creating phrase structure trees
- Part-of-speech tagging
- Semantic argument analysis
- Coreference clustering
- Error analysis for various NLP systems
- Writing and updating guidelines for annotation tasks
Requirements:
Undergraduate or graduate linguistics degree or related work experience. Native-level speaker of English with excellent written communication skills. Sharp eye for linguistic patterns and anomalies. Quick learner, eager to tackle new problems, learn new technical skills, and able to work well in teams as well as independently.
Proficiency in languages other than English desirable but not required. Also desirable: familiarity with web technologies, and comfort with multiple computing platforms (Unix, Windows, Mac), office applications (spreadsheets, presentation software, etc.), and programming or scripting languages (C++, Python, etc.).
Project duration:
6-11 months (with potential for extension) This is not a permanent position but a contract position. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
