I work as a postdoc at EPFL's Center for Brain Simulation (CBS) in Geneva,
Switzerland. Our lab is creating a Neuroinformatics Platform for
large-scale neuroscience data integration, search and analysis to serve the
scientific community. We are looking for a postdoc in text mining to
develop large scale text mining workflows. Feel free to ask me for details.

Responsibilities:
• Build and update lexical and semantic resources to describe
neuroscientific data from mining the scientific literature
• Build automated and semi-automated curation workflows leveraging
existing tools, to accelerate the extraction and curation of information
about neurons, brain regions and disease from the literature
• Develop and extend SciGraph annotation service to suggest ontological
annotations for experimental methods
• Integrate OpenMinTed text mining tools and infrastructure to support
the development of curation and knowledge integration workflows
• Lead and manage the collaboration with OpenMinTeD consortium
• Implement best-practices for maintainable software development,
including but not limited to: continuous integration, documentation,
adherence to and improvement of coding standards

Experience and preferred skills:
• Expertise in NLP and processing large volumes of textual information
• Expertise in Python and Java
• Experience with UIMA framework
• Agile software development, testing

Profile:
• PhD degree in NLP or equivalent
• Strong communications and problem solving skills
• Excellent written and spoken English. French would be a plus

What we offer:
• An internationally visible and rising project in simulation-based
research in neuroscience using supercomputers
• A young, dynamic, inter-disciplinary, and international working
environment
• A modern working environment at the Biotech Campus in Geneva Sécheron
• Start date: ASAP
• Activity rate: 100%
• Duration of contract: 2 years, renewable.

About CBS:
The EPFL Center for Brain Simulation (CBS), situated on the Campus Biotech
in Geneva, Switzerland, applies advanced neuroinformatics, data analytics,
high-performance computing and simulation-based approaches to the challenge
of understanding the structure and function of the mammalian brain in
health and disease. The CBS plays a leading role in the Human Brain
Project, which aims to accelerate our understanding of the human brain,
enable advances in defining and diagnosing brain disorders, and develop new
brain-like technologies through open science and global collaboration.

All the best, Renaud Richardet
