The Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval Group at the
University of Mannheim invites applications for
ONE PHD STUDENT IN STATISTICAL NLP / ONTOLOGY LEARNING / INFORMATION
EXTRACTION / MACHINE LEARNING
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to conduct research in
the areas of text mining and information retrieval. The candidate
should have a strong background in one or several of the following
areas:
- statistical semantic processing
- machine learning and knowledge acquisition
- ontology learning and population
- distributed large-scale processing
Candidates should have a Masters degree in Computer Science, Natural
Language Processing, Semantic Web or Machine Learning. The student
will be located at the Data and Web Science Group (DWS) of the
University of Mannheim, one of leading centers for Data Science in
Germany (more information can be found at
http://dws.informatik.uni-mannheim.de/).
Duration: initially one year (starting in Spring 2016) with possible
extension of 2-4 years.
Salary range: according to German public scale TV-L 13 100% (full
time, commensurate with experience and qualifications).
