The Machine Learning team at Insight in University College Dublin is hiring
three funded PhD students, commencing in 2016-2017 and fully funded for 4
years, for a project working on deep learning techniques for novelty
detection in high-volume, high-velocity data streams. Work on the project
will be split into three streams: (1) novelty detection methods based on
deep recurrent neural networks, (2) human-in-the-loop methods for novelty
detection using deep learning ,and (3) novelty detection methods based on
deep recurrent neural networks that take into account temporal effects such
as seasonality and satiation. We are seeking candidates for three PhD
positions available on this project, with each one aligned to one of these
three streams.
Applicants should have a strong undergraduate or Masters degree in computer
science, statistics or a relevant discipline. Ideally applicants will be
able to demonstrate an interest in theoretical work in machine learning,
together with good software engineering skills. Some previous experience
working predictive modelling, time series data, data visualisation, or deep
learning is desirable.
