23 March: FYI -- PhD funding, applied linguistics (Coruna, ES)

We are pleased to announce that a PhD position is available in the LyS
Group at the University of A Coruña (Spain), within the field of
applied linguistics. The project in which the applicant will be
integrated aims to build a writing assistant tool to help novice
writers to write academic texts.

OFFER

The candidate will be offered a one-and-a-half year contract,
extendable up to 3 years offering the chance to obtain a PhD
qualification. The contract includes full social security coverage and
a net salary of 20,000-21,000€/year.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The required profile is that of a Master in Linguistics, Computational
Linguistics, Philology or equivalent with good academic
records. Native or near native speaker of Spanish is required.

PREFERRED SKILLS

We are looking for a candidate with strong skills to handle corpus
interfaces and XML editors. Knowledge of statistical association
measures will be also valued. Previous experience in tasks related to
Computational Lexicography will also be welcomed. A good command of
English (written and spoken) is desirable.

POSITION AVAILABLE

The selection procedure is open now and will be maintained opened
until 18 April. The starting date is flexible, but preferably ASAP.
