From: Fred Cummins
Subject: Seminar Wednesday Oct 31st, 1 pm, MediaLabEurope

Next Wednesday, at the new and improved time of 1 pm, the UCD/MLE Speech
Technology Group present a seminar by Craig Olinsky. All interested
parties are welcome to attend. The seminar will be in MediaLabEurope,
former Guinness Hops Store, Sugar House Lane, on the 3rd Floor.

TITLE: Knowledge-Based Speech Synthesis

Existing tools (such as the public domain Festival Speech
Synthesizer) make it relatively easy to quickly build
a targeted Synthesized voice for your domain -- if you apply
sufficient domain and linguistic knowledge to the task.
In this talk I will discuss (and demonstrate) requirements and
limitations for building a limited-domain concatenative
synthesized voice, as well as open issues and concerns involved in
generalizing the process.

Our seminars are informal and often tutorial in nature.

free to pass this on to others.

Thanks

Fred
